Disney Perfection’s Magic Margarita
When it comes to celebrating Cinco de Mayo there’s one absolute necessity: margaritas. We decided to take on the challenge of bringing a splash of Disney magic to our homemade margaritas. The results? Perfection. Like best-bar-in Mexico-meets-Trader-Sam’s perfection. Now we’re sharing the recipe so you can get in on the boozey fun.
All the ingredients you’ll need
Disney perfection’s magic margarita
-
1.5 oz tequila, use your favorite
-
1 oz triple sec, such as Cointreau
-
.75 oz fresh lime juice
-
.25 oz agave (substitute simple syrup)
-
1 sugar cube
-
.5 ounce rum, preferably 151 proof
-
1/2 Lime, cut into half
-
1/2 tsp lemon extract (optional)
-
Chili lime seasoning (like tajine)
Instructions:
-
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice add the tequila, lime juice, triple sec and agave. Shake to combine (you should feel the shaker get quite cold before you’re done.) Strain into a serving glass filled with ice.
-
Now mix the granulated sugar and salt together on a small plate. Dip each lime wheel into the mixture and shake off any excess. Pour both the rum and lemon extract over each sugar cube, enough to coat the cube.
-
Place the lime floating in your margarita, then stack a sugar cube on top of the lime. (Note if you’re having trouble getting your lime to float try adding more ice.) Using a long lighter, ignite the sugar cubes. You should see the sugar begin to caramelize. Toss your chili lime seasoning into the flame to further ignite it (think uh-oha.) When you’re ready blow out the flame and push the lime down into the margarita.
-
Sip and enjoy!
While optional the lemon extract makes for an extra large flame – so we recommend it. This is one of our house secrets!
We hope these margaritas bring a splash of Disney magic into your evening. They’re simply the best margaritas we’ve tasted (and we’ve tasted…a lot.) Let us know how you liked them in the comments below!
