Disneybounding is the popular fashion trend of dressing up as a Disney character in real-world fashion. We decided to put a new spin on the concept – welcome to Dislanding! We’re drawing fashion inspiration from the lands of the Disney parks themselves. Think of the cool futuristic blues and silvers of Tommorowland, bright, bold shapes and colors of Toontown, or the refined pastels and lace of New Orleans Square. The sources of inspiration for chic, playful outfits are almost limitless!
So how to style your first perfect Dislanding outfit? We took the trend out for a test-drive and styled an Adventureland look. You’ll catch us with the gleam of Dole Whip in our eyes, a whole lotta tropical prints, and some seriously jungle-ready outfits.
Moodboard for Adventureland Dislanding
Aloha Mood
Adventureland evokes the best of tropical living in our minds. So how about a dress that literally pictures scenes from paradise? This dress from Pam & Gela combines tropical ocean waves with a sporty silhouette. Bonus: the material is genuinely summer sunproof so you can ride The Jungle Cruise to your heart’s content. This Dislanding look is already popping with color, so keep the accessories simple. We finished our look with a round white wicker bag from Cleobella (the brand that inspired tons of copycat purses last summer,) and hoop earrings from Chains and Pearls. This outfit is bold, but so is the spirit of Adventureland!
Palm Paradise
One of the most iconic parts of the decor in Adventureland is the giant, glorious palm trees! Pay homage to the aesthetic with a floor-length Badgley Mischka wrap gown featuring a gorgeous palm leave print. Nude heels keep the palm print in focus and add a leaner leg look for the occasional flash of the dress’ modest slit. Top it off with a pearl hair clip (a subtle nod to the ocean.) We’ll admit heels, and a gown isn’t the most practical for a day in the park, but they will make for some legendary photos!
Bird of Paradise Glamour
Ready to reveal the glamorous side of the land? Channel retro Hawaiian vibes with this iconic dress from Los Angeles designer Katie May. Every tropical flower we can think of makes an appearance on the gown, including Adventureland favorites, Birds of Paradise (the leaves at least.) If you’re feeling more of a Tarzan vibe for your Dislanding look, try out the dress in leopard print! The slit may be riskay, but what’s this land all about if not a bit of danger?! Pair it with a tassel necklace (similar one available here) and a Stuart Weitzman white sandal. Get ready to hula with the best of ‘em!
