Update (2/1/2021) Carthay Circle Lounge, Award Weiners, and SmokeJumpers Grill are set to reopen on Friday, February 5, 2021.
Back in November 2020, Disneyland saw the reopening of Buena Vista Street restaurants after months of closure due to COVID-19. After less than three weeks, the California stay-at-home order forced restaurants that didn’t offer takeout to shutter once more. Restaurants such as Carthay Circle Lounge, Fifer and Practical Cafe, and others were among the list.
But in a recent update from Disney officials shared to the OC Register, things are starting to look a little different. Officials expect that more than 400 cast members will be recalled, with many already receiving recall notices!
They’re expecting to receive updated safety training on January 31, 2020. And in the meantime, guests who have purchased food and drink from other locations that remained open were allowed to eat off-site.
But more than 230 Disneyland food and beverage employees have been recalled as part of reopening efforts related to the Buena Vista Street food offerings.
For Carthay Circle Lounge, the Award Wieners, and Smokejumpers Grill fans, there’s some specific news to be shared.
According to Workers United 51, a labor union that represents Disneyland food and drink workers, employees have been recalled to a few restaurants specifically. 71 employees will be recalled to Carthay Circle and 138 workers to the Award Wieners and Smokejumpers Grill.
And while there is no official reopening date as of yet for the restaurants mentioned above, several other restaurants have reopened as of Saturday, January 30, 2020. Among them are Naples Restaurant, Tortilla Jo’s, and Uva Bar and Cafe.
