With every new year comes new magic at the Disney theme parks, and here at Perfecting the Magic, we’re sharing all of our favorite Disney tips with you. Today, we’re taking you straight to the happiest place on Earth to give you the full scoop on our 2022 Disneyland must-dos. A lot of updates will impact your trip to Disneyland this year, so here are some things to add to your bucket list as you navigate the parks in style!
Experience Lunar New Year
Book a trip if you’ve never visited Disney California Adventure during the Lunar New Year celebration. It’s 100% worth it!
Lunar New Year is celebrated by numerous Asian cultures worldwide, and Disneyland Resort — situated in culturally diverse Southern California — honors the Lunar New Year magically. This year, for the first time ever, Disney’s first Southeast Asian princess, Raya from Raya and the Last Dragon, will be joining the festivities! In addition to Raya, guests will be able to meet Mulan and see Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse dressed in beautifully designed Chinese-inspired outfits. Plus, the festival also brings live entertainment and innovative marketplace menus celebrating Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cuisine, making it without a doubt one of our 2022 Disneyland must-dos. (But let’s be honest, we look forward to this event every year!)
You can celebrate the Year of the Tiger at Disney California Adventure from January 21st to February 13th 2022.
Attend a Special Event
The after-hours events at Disneyland Resort are some of our favorites — and 2022 will bring a lot of them!
Each after-hours party offers something special: unique character appearances, limited capacity, special menu items, and more. So far, Disney has announced three Disneyland After Dark events for this year: Sweethearts Nite, Star Wars Nite, and Villains Nite. We also expect Oogie Boogie Bash, A Disney Halloween Party to return for the spooky season, and perhaps even Disney Merriest Nites may come back during Christmastime!

Celebrate May the Fourth in Galaxy’s Edge
Whether it’s Star Wars Day, Life Day, or another epic intergalactic celebration, spending a Star Wars holiday in Galaxy’s Edge is one of our Disneyland must-dos for casual fans and super fans alike.
You can make your 2022 Disneyland theme park reservations way in advance, so, if you haven’t snagged your May 4th rezzy yet, what are you waiting for? Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the best place to be on May the Fourth, so dress in your best DisneyBound, roll up to Oga’s Cantina for a Fuzzy Tauntaun this Star Wars Day, and stay ‘til dark to illuminate the night with your lightsaber. There’s truly nothing like gathering with other fans in Galaxy’s Edge on a holiday like this. Add it to your Disneyland must-dos list for this year, if you haven’t yet!

Get Decked Out for Dapper Day Events
If you’ve never participated in Dapper Day before, this is the year to do it. Dapper Day is when Disney fans step out to the parks in style. It’s the best opportunity to showcase a fabulous fit at the happiest place on Earth. This year, you can don your Disneyland best during two chic dates: April 24th and November 6th. Get that chic outfit ready — Disneyland is waiting for you!

Special Perks for Passholders
Have a Disneyland Magic Key? Here’s a 2022 Disneyland must-do just for you. This February is Magic Key Holder Celebration Month, an entire month dedicated to celebrating Disneyland’s Magic Key holders (aka Annual Passholders). Disney hasn’t revealed exactly what we can expect for the month-long celebration, but we’re eager to find out all the perks that will come with it.
