Here’s Everything You Missed in Disney World News This Week

About

Hey, Discrew! We’re rounding up the latest Walt Disney World news from the past week.

First up, let’s talk Magic Kingdom. Splash Mountain just reopened after a seasonal refurbishment, but there’s still no word on when it will close for its “Princess and the Frog” retheme. For now, you can ride the attraction in its original state — we’ll keep you posted when more news develops.

Disney World also just debuted the largest cavalcade ever at Magic Kingdom, the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade. It features rare characters you don’t often see in the park. Check out the official website for more info before your next visit.

Over at EPCOT, we’ve got some good news for the new walkthrough “Moana” attraction coming to the park. Disney filed permits for some show elements for the attraction — dubbed Journey of Water – Inspired by “Moana” — so although there isn’t yet an opening date, we’re excited to see progress.

Disney also just added a new wedding venue to the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings lineup. You can now get married at Place de Remy in the new expanded France pavilion in EPCOT. C’est magnifique!

Finally, in a recent earnings call, we got the hint that Disney executives are feeling hopeful about Disney Genie+, the newly reimagined paid FastPass system at the parks. Anywhere from 30-50% of park guests are buying Genie+ each day. More on that story here.
