The Mandalorian season 2 is set to premiere in October on Disney+, and hints about what to expect from the new episodes have finally started to appear. The show has generated more buzz than ever with its newly minted 15 Emmy nominations. The Mandalorian is already stacking up as the most in-demand show on any streaming platform ahead of season 2’s debut. Here’s everything we know about what’s next for Mando and his sidekick Baby Yoda.

Pedro Pascal, the show’s beloved hero, has teased that fans should expect plenty of surprise from upcoming episodes. The show’s composer Ludwig Göransson echoed those sentiments in a recent interview with Deadline. He said:

“We started a couple of months ago, and I’m extremely excited. Jon’s [creator Jon Favreau] taking the story into places that I didn’t know existed, and I think it’s so fun.”

One thing that won’t catch us off guard this season is a healthy splash of the black-bladed lightsaber, known as the Darksaber. According to Giancarlo Esposito, who plays the show’s villain Moff Gideon,

“You’ll see more of the darksaber, you’ll get the explanation of this ancient weapon to the modern world, a collapsed world…Where did this saber come from and how was it revived? It’s a key in our second season, which will be back sooner than later.”

This powerful Mandalorian-made weapon is featured heavily in animated series, The Clone Wars (you can geek out on more Darksaber lore here.) The saber plotline will likely involve Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff who plays the live-action version of Bo-Katan Kryze. A legendary Mandalorian warrior, Bo-Katan has been featured in animated series, The Clones Wars and Star Wars Rebels and is the last known wielder of the Darksaber.

We also know that The Mandalorian’s sophomore season will feature fan favorite, Boba Fett. Temuera Morrison has signed on to portray the epic bounty hunter for the first time in live-action after taking on the role of Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones. This one has us brimming with anticipation!

Fan theories abound on what else to expect from the season. Rosario Dawson fills out the second season cast, but with no details on what her storyline may involve as Star Wars: The Clone Wars character Ahsoka Tano. Internet rumor mills suggest Dawson’s appearance may be setting her up for her own Star Wars Disney+ spinoff.
