Universal parks around the world are seeing plenty of new additions slated to come in 2021. If you’ve been left behind with all the upcoming developments, we’ve got you!
Jurassic World VelociCoaster
Universal Orlando will see the opening of it’s newest coaster, the Jurassic World VelociCoaster, in summer 2021. With the promise of a high speed run through the raptor paddock, Universal Orlando recently shared images of the new ride vehicles!
An official first look video was shared, giving us an up-close and personal look at the new ride vehicles! We’re definitely looking forward to seeing just how fast this coaster can take us!
Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash
Previously set to open in 2020, the Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash ride at Universal Studios Hollywood will now be opening sometime in 2021. In traditional dark ride fashion, Secret Life of Pets features plenty of scenes from the film and animatronics that bring the characters to life. No official opening date is set just yet, but from the inside look one writer was able to get earlier this year, it looks like it’s going to be a pet-tastic time!
Super Nintendo World
Universal Studios Japan’s newest addition, Super Nintendo World, opens on February 4, 2021. The area will feature Nintendo themed attractions like the Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge roller coaster, Yoshi’s Adventure, and a total recreation of Bowser’s Castle.
Keep in mind, that a Super Nintendo World land is also planned for Universal Studios Hollywood and Orlando sometime in the future.
Dying for a closer look? Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto (or as he self-titled himself, Mario’s Dad) is here to take you on an inside look in this Super Nintendo World Direct video.
Universal Epic Universe
Last but not least, there have been some updates on the state of Universal Epic Universe. Epic Universe, which is being constructed as part of the Universal Orlando Resort, is located about 15 minutes from the main park campus. In July 2020, Epic Universe’s development was paused until further notice due to an uncertain future.
The pandemic closures played a part in the pause, but in a recent tour that was presented by Nintendo and Universal, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that plans were still in effect to open Super Nintendo World in Hollywood, Orlando, and Singapore. (Hit the 12:50 mark if you want to see it!)
And with that, we’re all caught up on what new rides are coming to Universal Studios parks around the world in 2021! What are you most looking forward to this year?
