Planning a Disney World Vacation? Here’s Where to Start

About

If you’re planning your first Walt Disney World Resort vacation — or your first visit to Disney World in quite a while — here’s where to start.

First, figure out how many days you want to spend in the parks. We’d recommend a minimum of four days to make sure you can visit one park per day, but if you can, a week is great. But how long is too long? There are really no wrong answers!

Next, set a general budget for the trip. Having a ballpark range of how much you’re willing to spend will help you determine which hotel you’d like to stay at. At Disney World, there are four different types of hotels: Disney Value Resorts, Moderate Resorts, Deluxe Resorts, and a variety of off-property hotels to choose from. The price and perks of each resort can seriously vary, so set a budget and do some research to figure out what’s right for you.

When it comes to theme park tickets, be sure to buy your tickets and make your park reservations ASAP. If you can, it’s worth splurging on the upgrade to Park Hopper tickets so you aren’t limited to only visiting one park per day. You may totally fall in love with one of the theme parks and want to keep going back there again and again throughout the trip. A Park Hopper ticket can let you do that!

Finally, pick your dining “musts.” Reservations can be made 60 days in advance of your trip, so figure out what your dining must-dos are and which restaurants are on your Walt Disney World bucket list. Check out our guide for more!
