Disney released information on the new Walt Disney World Theme Park reservation system this morning! The news is a mixed bag of highs and lows. We’ve boiled the tons of new information down – read below for everything we know!

The reservation system opens:⁣⁣

  • June 22nd for Disney Resort and other select hotel guests

  • June 26th for Annual Passholders

  • June 28th for ticket holders

What time is the system launching? No details released on that just yet. At initial reopening, there will be no options for park hopping, so swapping between Epcot and Magic Kingdom midday will have to hold off for a while.

In saddening news, the Disney Parks Pass system will be in effect for Walt Disney World through September 26, 2021. (And yes, that goes for WDW Annual Passholders too.) According to theme park reporter Carlye Wisel, children under 3 do not appear to need reservations to enter the park. You will be required to have a separate theme park reservation for each day of your multi-ticket or multi-day trip.

Free Magic Bands are also gone though you will still be able to pre-purchase yours on the Disney website. Instead, reservations will be handled via the My Disney Experience app (apparently updated with more robust functionality.) If you plan on getting park reservations updating your information in the My Disney Experience app BEFORE the reservation system goes live in critical.

There’s even more updates to know for those planning to visit Walt Disney World in the coming months. If you’re looking to purchase new hotel reservations or tickets, here’s what you need to know!

For new reservations:

  • 2020: Hotels and tickets may become available later this summer depending on availability

  • 2021: New hotel and tickets bookings coming soon, adding tickets to an existing hotel reservation available starting June 24

For new WDW ticket purchases:

  • 2020 tickets sales reopen “late this summer.”

  • 2021 tickets will be released on June 21

That’s everything we know so far! Still, no information has been released on Disneyland’s reservation system. Check back here for continued updates from Perfecting The Magic on the parks reopening!
