The Walt Disney World Resort announced more details for their 50th-anniversary celebration that kicks off on October 1, 2021.
During a special segment of the Good Morning America broadcast, Walt Disney World announced new offerings throughout the theme parks that will begin on October 1st – which is the resort’s official 50th anniversary.
Magic Kingdom will receive an all-new nighttime spectacular- “Disney Enchantment”. The show will feature fireworks, and projections, but not only on Cinderella’s Castle! Main Street USA will play an active part in the show, making it fully immersive from any vantage point!
While we were previously given a sneak peak of the outfits Mickey & Minnie will be donning during the celebration, it was announced that their friends- Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Chip ‘n’ Dale will also be getting an EARidescent makeover as well! You’ll be able to see them in all their shimmering glory during the brand new “Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade” at Magic Kingdom park!
The long-anticipated Nighttime spectacular – “Harmonious” finally has an opening date. On October 1st, guests can experience one of the biggest nighttime shows ever created for a Disney Park. This one-of-a-kind experience combines popular Disney & Disney-Pixar films with incredible water features, media, fireworks, and favorite Disney songs to tell the stories that unite the world.
Each day, guests can enjoy the brand new “Disney Kite Tails” over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. Taking place at the Discovery River Amphitheater, this new show will feature large, elaborately created kites of Simba, Zazu, Baloo & King Louie out on the water, while live performers fly kites and wind-catchers that will “dance” to some popular Disney Songs. This new offering will be performed throughout the day- giving guests multiple chances to see it!
Throughout all four theme parks, 50 golden statues of the company’s most famous characters will debut. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, and the Chipmunks will all be showcased in these statues, with Mickey & Minnie’s near Cinderella’s Castle at the Magic Kingdom. While no further details have been released yet as to what other character statues we will see, the Walt Disney World Resort stated that we will soon learn more about these new statues and ways that they will interact with guests.
All of these exciting enhancements will be able to be enjoyed for the full 18-month celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary with more announcements to come!
