July 2021 is here and looking to be just as hot as you expect the summer to be. But with a jam packed month of new releases making their way to Disney Plus like the finale episodes of Loki, the Jungle Cruise film, and new shows starting, there’s plenty to look forward to as you escape the heat from your couch.
So here’s the total round up of all things coming to Disney Plus in July with a few highlights that we’re especially interested in!
Black Widow
Set to be the first Marvel movie released since 2019, Black Widow is definitely one of our biggest anticipated releases this month! The movie is set to tell Natasha Romanoff’s history before she was with the Avengers. We’ve already seen appearances by the film’s new villain Taskmaster at DCA’s Avengers Campus! We can’t wait to see how the film’s storyline will play into the continued evolution of the campus. Black Widow will cost an additional $30 on top of your existing Disney Plus subscription.
Jungle Cruise
Inspired by the ride of the same title in the Disney parks, Jungle Cruise tells the tale of skipper Frank Wolff and researcher Dr. Lily Houghton as they head down the Amazon in search of an ancient tree. We expect tons of nods to the original ride – the hunt for Jungle Cruise easter eggs is already on! With a line up including Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramirez, and Jack Whitehall, Jungle Cruise will be released on Disney Plus and in theaters on July 30, costing an additional $30 for Disney Plus subscribers.
The Sandlot
Originally released in 1993, The Sandlot is arriving on Disney Plus on July 2. It’s definitely a great summer film, following the story of Scotty Smalls and his ragtag group of friends. The Sandlot has become a summer and nostalgia staple over the last 25 years. There’s something about watching the characters play baseball and just completely believe in the legend of “the Beast” that reminds me of growing up and having that freedom during the summer.
Built for Mars: The Perseverance Rover
Mission Space lovers, this one’s for you! National Geographic’s documentary Built for Mars: The Perseverance Rover is coming to Disney Plus on July 30. The documentary is around 2 hours and presents a behind the scenes look at the NASA Jet Propulsion lab in California over the course of a year. We’ll get to see how the Perseverance Rover, which landed on Mars on February 18, 2021, was built and the team behind it.
