Your 2022 Guide to Disney Genie+ at Walt Disney World

About

Visiting Walt Disney World this year? Here’s your 2022 guide to Disney Genie+.

Say goodbye to FastPasses and hello to Lightning Lanes! As of fall 2021, the FastPass system has officially been replaced by Disney Denie+, a paid system — that’s right, FastPasses are no longer free! For $15 per person per day, you can access the Lightning Lane (AKA the old FastPass line) for a variety of attractions. It’s a completely digital system, so you book everything through the Disney World app, My Disney Experience.

You can purchase Disney Genie+ on the day of your theme park visit, or, if you’re booking a Walt Disney World Resort vacation package, you can purchase Disney Genie+ in advance as a vacation package add-on. Then, starting at 7 a.m. each morning, you can book your first Lightning Lane of the day. You can only hold one Lightning Lane at a time, and there are two ways to clear it: redeem it at an attraction that you booked or wait two hours in between each Lighting Lane reservation to be able to book another one.

There are a few attractions on the next level up that are known as Individual Attraction Selections. The Lighitning Lanes for these rides can cost you extra, so you’ll need to pay an additional fee in order to get on these premium rides (like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom). The cost of a Lightning Lane for these premium rides can vary each day. You can purchase them starting at 7 a.m. if you’re staying at a Disney hotel, or at park opening if not. These passes don’t count against the “one Lighting Lane at a time” rule.
